Job Description
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officers are essential professionals in large industrial and petrochemical projects. Their primary role is to ensure that all workplace activities are conducted safely while following company policies and international safety standards. Industrial plants and petrochemical facilities require experienced safety personnel to supervise operations and prevent workplace hazards.
In Saudi Arabia, companies operating in major facilities such as SABIC, Sadara, and SATORP frequently hire qualified HSE professionals to maintain strict safety compliance. These projects involve high-risk environments where safety monitoring is critical. Experienced HSE Officers help ensure that all operational procedures follow approved safety guidelines and that workers remain protected while performing their duties.
Key Responsibilities
An HSE Officer is responsible for monitoring work activities and ensuring that safety regulations are properly implemented throughout the project site. This includes conducting safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, and guiding workers on proper safety procedures. The role also involves organizing safety meetings and providing instructions to workers about safe work practices.
Another important responsibility is conducting room-to-room safety inspections, where the officer checks different work areas within the facility to ensure that all operations meet safety requirements. HSE Officers also investigate incidents, maintain safety records, and coordinate with supervisors and project management to improve workplace safety standards.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates applying for this position should have strong experience in industrial safety management, particularly within petrochemical or oil and gas environments. Applicants must have the same profession listed on their Iqama and should possess a minimum of 8 years of HSE experience in Saudi Arabia.
Experience working in companies such as SABIC, Sadara, or SATORP is highly preferred because these organizations follow strict safety protocols and operational procedures. Applicants must also have strong knowledge of safety regulations, hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency response planning. Good communication and leadership skills are essential for effectively guiding workers and maintaining safety discipline on site.
