Safety Engineers, Fire Watch personnel, Work Permit Receivers (WPR), and Safety Officers

Role Overview and Industry Importance

Industrial facilities such as in Al Jubail require a strong safety workforce to ensure that operations run smoothly without accidents or operational risks. Safety-related roles are critical in petrochemical and oil & gas industries where workers handle heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and high-risk processes.

The current hiring drive focuses on recruiting qualified professionals who can support shutdown and operational activities within the industrial environment. Positions such as Safety Engineers, Fire Watch personnel, Work Permit Receivers (WPR), and Safety Officers are responsible for maintaining strict safety compliance and ensuring that workers follow approved procedures.

These professionals help reduce workplace hazards, prevent accidents, and ensure that all industrial tasks are completed according to international safety standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Each role in the project has specific responsibilities aimed at maintaining safe work conditions across the site.

Safety Engineers are responsible for developing and implementing safety procedures, conducting site inspections, and ensuring that all operations comply with industrial safety regulations. They also investigate incidents and recommend preventive measures.

Fire Watch personnel monitor hot work activities such as welding and cutting to prevent fire hazards. They remain on-site during risky operations to respond immediately in case of sparks, smoke, or fire-related risks.

Work Permit Receivers (WPR) coordinate the work permit system, ensuring that all tasks are approved and executed according to safety guidelines before work begins.

Safety Officers supervise safety compliance on-site, maintain documentation, conduct toolbox talks, and coordinate with supervisors to ensure that workers follow safety procedures throughout the project.

All employees are expected to work collaboratively, follow site safety rules, and remain alert during operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates applying for these roles must have experience in industrial plants, shutdown projects, or petrochemical environments. Practical knowledge of safety systems and hazard control procedures is essential.

Applicants should possess relevant certifications such as TUV cards, Third Party Cards, and professional safety certifications. These credentials confirm the candidate’s ability to work in high-risk industrial environments.

A valid Iqama with the correct profession is mandatory for employment in Saudi Arabia. Candidates should also be familiar with safety documentation processes including CV preparation, Ajeer registration, and NIBOS records.

Strong communication skills, teamwork abilities, and quick decision-making are important because safety professionals must respond rapidly to potential hazards.
